Domestic Violence is the focus for the 2009 Eastern Regional Day of Service. Chapters are asked to plan activities that will educate and empower their communities on the issue of domestic violence by increasing awareness, promoting intervention, and introducing the various resources and support available to help those in crisis. Considering the recent onslaught of domestic violence fatalities, particularly those of young black women, we recognize that there is much work to be done in order to improve and save the lives of those comprising one of society's most vulnerable populations - victims of abuse. It is our commitment as Delta women in the Eastern Region to lead the offensive on the most critical issues of the day. This is the time for us to speak out, stand up, and catalyze the change we seek.
